LOCATION: Near the Village of Lake Placid (site of the 1980 Winter Olympics.) Summer.
ABOUT THE MOMENT: Infused with highly reflective fog, the pre-dawn landscape seems to give off its own sublime, soft glow. Exposure was approximately two minutes and no filters were used.  40 minutes before sunrise. Summer.

ABOUT THE MOMENT: In the hour before the sun breaks the horizon, the landscape is painted with a simple but vivid palette.  Exposure was around 45 seconds with no filters.

LOCATION: Lake Kushaqua near the town of Onchiota. Late September.
ABOUT THE MOMENT:  As is the case with much of my work, this location was scouted and the image designed in advance.  After a number of attempts on previous mornings, I finally caught a very brief break in wind and weather.  I photographed from the moment warm morning light flooded the scene, until minutes later when the winds resumed

LOCATION: Franklin Falls Pond north of Whiteface Mountain.  Late September.
ABOUT THE MOMENT:  This point of land is briefly set aglow before the morning light reaches
the shoreline beyond.  A slight stirring of the water creates
a wonderfully expressive, painterly effect.
